FAMILY HISTORY

From the 1920s to the 1950s, a number of my mother’s uncles and aunts, on both paternal and maternal sides, emigrated to the USA: Gary, Indiana, for the McKays; and Bayonne, New Jersey for the Šugžda family. Also making the move were her cousins Tilly and Russell Zinkevičius (aka “Fletcher”). Robyn’s families mostly went to Australia when they left their motherlands, but Thomas Ferguson (g-g-uncle) took his family to Pennsylvania in 1889.

On my paternal side, my Aunt Joyce and her family moved to California around 2002. Joyce lived at Pacific Palisades until she died in 2019, but had also owned properties in Indian Wells and Rancho Mirage, both near Palm Springs to the east. Her sons (my 1st cousins), have lived variously at Topanga, Santa Monica, Sherman Oaks and Thousand Oaks.
